A GANG of armed robbers are being hunted by police after a raid on a betting shop in Astley.

Three men burst into the Betfred bookmaker's on Manchester Road shortly after 5.15pm on Friday, September 28.

One of the gang brandished a black handgun and threatened members of staff before getting them to empty the contents of the till and safe into a metal waste bin.

The three men then left with a quantity of cash and are believed to have escaped in a silver Mercedes that was parked nearby.

The car was seen heading in the direction of North Lane, Tyldesley.

The men are believed to be between 20-25-years-old. Two of the men were wearing black hooded tops and one was wearing a white hooded top.

None of the staff were injured in the incident and the weapon was not fired.
