Young girl hurt as car mounts pavement

A girl, aged 15, suffered a serious facial injury after being hit by a car as she walked along a street with a friend in Atherton.

The two 15-year-old girls were walking along Gloucester Street, Atherton, at about 7.50pm on Saturday when the driver of a green Ford Scorpio appeared to lose control, and the car mounted the pavement and collided with one of the girls.

She suffered serious facial injuries and a broken elbow and was taken to Royal Bolton Infirmary. Her injuries are not life threatening.
