A CAR sparked a safety alert when it crashed into a house and ripped a gas pipe off the wall.
Fire crews were called to Youd Street in Leigh at around 7.15pm on Tuesday after a car hit the corner of a house and ruptured a gas main.
Firefighters covered the pipe with a special putty to stop the leak until Transco arrived to carry out repairs.
Police are investigating.
