RUGBY League legend, Paul Sculthorpe, went back to basics to help stir up pupils’ enthusiasm for sport.

He joined children at Leigh St Peter’s CE Junior School on Tuesday to share his expertise and launch Chewits Sports Courses, in association with Premier Sport.

He also had the chance to test his own skills by taking part in a lesson with a Premier Sports coach.

The courses, in up to 21 sports, offer a range of fun and energetic sporting activities to children, aged between four and 12 over the school holidays.

They will be available during all breaks in 2009 at various locations and include athletics, hockey, football, netball, dance, cricket, tag rugby, basketball and multi-sports.

The former Great Britain captain was inspired to sign up as an ambassador after seeing how the coaches inspired his eight-years-old son Jake.

He said: “It is a great privilege to represent Premier Sport. My son has participated in their activities for the past two years and time and time again I’ve been impressed with the level of coaching, enthusiasm and commitment shown.”

A day’s course starts from £9.95 per child. For more information or to book visit www.chewitspremiersport.org
