On the buses

EVER thought of swapping your car for a bus?

A good number of road journeys could easily be taken by using public transport, but for many, questions about ticket cost, timetables and which services go where seem to get in the way of actually swapping the car for a bus.

Now Wigan Council’s transport and road safety team has joined up with Arriva buses to promote the use of sustainable travel.

To make access fair to all the team has chosen Platt Bridge for its presentation as it's almost central within the borough, and is served by 14 buses each hour.

Look for the Arriva bus parked on Netto’s car park in the middle of Platt Bridge on Thursday, Nov 26 from 10am – 4pm and call in for a chat with the team.

Cllr David Molyneux, Wigan's cabinet champion for the environment, said: “Improvements have been made to bus infrastructure and services in Platt Bridge including modern shelters and level access bus stops. Please come along to find out about local transport services from the experts.”

As well as detailed public transport information, there will be a chance to see the next generation of buses, plus a competition to win free travel on Arriva bus services.
