THE People’s History Museum in Manchester has been officially reopened by Leigh MP and Secretary of State for Health Andy Burnham.

Major contributions to the project came from the Heritage Lottery Fund with £7m and the Northwest Regional Development Agency (NWDA) with £2m.

At Friday evening’s launch event, the NWDA’s tourism director, Nick Brook-Sykes, said: “The NWDA gets culture. The successful cities of the future will be those that are distinctive and authentic, and this museum is both and will strengthen Manchester’s appeal.”
