LABOUR hopeful Julie Hilling has backed the Royal British Legion’s ‘Do Your Bit’ Campaign.

The Royal British Legion has published a manifesto which they have asked candidates of all political parties to sign up to. The manifesto sets out priorities for the next Government to improve conditions for the British Armed Forces past and present and their families.

Now the Atherton-based Labour Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for Bolton West, has signed up to the manifesto, which includes making NHS priority treatment work for veterans with injuries caused by Service in the Armed Forces.

The pledges in the manifesto also include ensuring high standards of accommodation for those serving in the armed forces and their families, as well as greater support for those who are affected by mental health problems and drug or alcohol dependency.

She said: “I am delighted to give my backing to the Royal British Legion’s campaign. It is vital to support our armed forces and their families, particularly during these difficult times. I am pleased to sign up and promise to ‘do my bit’ if I am elected as the MP for Bolton West”.
