COLLEGE students have been given an insight into policing.
PCSO Michelle Ashurst organised a two-day course for Wigan and Leigh College Public Service students in the 16-20 age group who are keen to follow a career in policing.
During the course pupils had the opportunity to find out what its like to work for various Greater Manchester Police departments such as Counter Terrorism and Criminal Justice and Partnerships. Presentations were delivered highlighting the daily work of a Neighbourhood Inspector and PCSO.
Mounted police officers also attended the course with their steeds.
PCSO Ashurst said: “This course was a great way for students to become familiar with the various policing roles available in Greater Manchester Police and the responsibilities that come with them. I’ve had fantastic feedback from the students who took part and I hope to run a similar course in the future.”
In thanking Michelle, Renata Anderton, course manager, said: “I would like to express our thanks to everyone involved who gave up their time to speak to the students. Michelle’s hard work made this event such a success for our students, providing them with such a unique opportunity to interact with the police.” Police insight for students
