Glazebury garden safari


RICH and colourful delights are in store to explorers who are invited to take part in another Glazebury Garden Safari.

On Sunday, September 12 everyone is invited to take a tour of 15 beautiful gardens in the village.

The Garden Safari has once again been organized by local nurseryman, John Bent, from Bents Garden & Home and Glazebury garden enthusiast Delia Caswell. It will raise money for Glazebury's All Saints and Methodist churches.

Now in its third year the tour includes an additional five gardens and isitors will enjoy broad sweeps of colour; views over the Cheshire countryside and, hidden garden ‘rooms’, as well as a display of vintage mowers, rare breed poultry, birds of prey and waterfowl.

Those wishing to take part in the Safari can purchase a programme on the day (£6) or in advance (£5) from Bents Garden & Home, Glazebury Methodist Church or All Saints Church in Glazebury.

The programme, which provides a route map and descriptions of the gardens, will admit two people who can tour the gardens at their leisure between 1 and 5pm. Tea and cake will be served throughout the day at Glazebury Methodist Church.

Gardens include: John Bent's Weeping Ash Garden that is undergoing new developments, Eric Hampson's in Warrington Road, The Bungalow (Delia Caswell and John Grundy), Light Oaks View (Mike and Mary Latchford), Light Oaks Road (Albert and Jean Waterfield), Light Oaks Hall, 251 Warrington Road (John and Enid Banner), Moss View (Tommy and Sheila Thompson), Glazebury Methodist Church, Old Cross Keys Cottage, Farley View (Barbara and Colin Mills), Holcroft (Allan and Dorothy Graham) All Saints Church (Rev Pat Grey), Wards End Farm (Robert and Janet Woolstencroft) and Glazewood House (Andrew & Susan Wood).
