Atherton carnival set for June

CARNIVAL time will hit Atherton again on Sunday, June 24, the date set for the climax of this year’s Atherton Festival.

The theme will be topical as ever with the carnival floats and troupes all adopting an Olympic flavour. Each volunteer group will go under the colours and standard of their chosen Olympic country.

A week of activity will be topped on the Sunday by a parade round the streets of the town before heading back to Hag Fold’s Meadowbank playing fields.

If you or your group would like to enter into the carnival spirit contact Brian Seddon on 01942 870872 or 07921 094634.

This year organisers hope to include a parade of interesting and unusual vehicles including lorries, buses, cars and motor cycles.
