TYLDESLEY Band have underlined their contest prowess by tuning in with back to back victories at the Preston Guild.

Continuing their many successes over the past 12 month the band once again came out top in the second section of Brass at The Guild.

Competing against five other bands, from Wales and South Yorkshire, the band's performance of Goff Richards' "Cross Patonce" led to them clinching the winning title from runners-up Hoover Bolton Band and Eccleston Brass.

Adjudicator Mike Kilroy underlined the band's quality commenting how well they had performed, with excellent solo sections of the test piece and complimented to the Musical Director and the Band's Bass section.

Tyldesley were re-awarded the Peter Harrison trophy for Best Basses.

Tyldesley Band and Musical Director Rob Taylor have been working on the piece by the late Goff Richards since the New Year, which is the set work for the North West Regional Brass Band Championships at the Winter Gardens, Blackpool on Sunday, February 26.

On that date Tyldesley will compete against 13 other bands from the North West to qualify for the National Brass Band Championship Finals later in the year.
