SPIN-offs aside, Resident Evil 4 represented the franchise’s finest hour and 2010’s fifth outing felt like something of a step backwards, so how does the sixth creep-fest fare?

Set in 2013, 10 years after the original Raccoon City incident, the world is in turmoil as the C-virus has reached pandemic proportions and threatens to consume the world in a horrific apocalyptic scenario.

Under the threat of this global bioterrorist attack, our heroes must battle to save the world in another story of fear on an unprecedented scale.

Much has been revamped within the game, from the menu presentations, through to the types of enemies you’ll face, which all represents a refreshing change to the series.

More than 20 hours of quality thrills and spills pack any unsavoury memories of RE5 and send them on their way. Throw in some co-op collusion moments of sheer genius and the brilliant Agent Hunt mode that puts you in control of an enemy in someone else’s game, and you have more options for a fright-filled evening than you can shake a zombie’s limb at.
