WITH the log summer school holidays approaching parents can take heart that ensuring children aren't bored during the break needn't cost the earth.
If it’s inspiration you’re after then look no further than Leigh Children’s Centre.
The Sure Start base at 18 Market Street, Leigh is open on Saturday, July 5 for a fun-filled information day on how to keep the kids active and amused.
Wigan Leisure and Culture Trust’s Active Life Team, Leigh Rugby Union Club, Leigh Library and Wigan Sports Council are among a host of groups and organisations taking part in the event that runs from 9am until 1pm.
Information will be available about holiday clubs, rugby skills camps, multi-sports, drama, dance, arts and crafts and much more.
Wigan Council’s Cabinet Champion for Children and Young People Cllr Sue Loudon is urging as many people as possible to go along and find out more.
“There’s plenty going on for children in the borough this summer,” she said.
“Many of the events are free or are certainly very affordable and they’ll also be good for children’s health and social development.
“The opportunities offered at the Leigh Children’s Centre event are a great chance for children to use the summer holidays to try out new things, gain new skills and meet new friends.”
For more information contact the centre on 01942 404403.
