Police are appealing for help to trace relatives of a man who died in a Leigh house.

Police were called to the house on Melrose Avenue shortly before 3.45pm on Tuesday following reports that a man had been found collapsed.

Officers attended and the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

He was later identified as John Maurizi, aged 54.

There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death and the details have been passed to the coroner.

Officers are now trying to trace any of John's relatives. It is believed he may have a son called Michael who now lives in Ireland.

Anyone with information is asked to call Wigan Police Station on 0161 872 5050.
