A TRIO of young dancers from a Leigh school have pirouetted their way into the Royal Ballet School.

The threesome Nicole Ferris and Chloe Swift, both 13, and nine-years-old Alice Kawalek are the first pupils of The Apple Dance Centre to receive such an honour.

They fought off tough opposition from thousands of hopeful candidates at auditions for the handful of prestigious places open to students.

All three are taught by Norma Appleyard and her daughters Diane and Julie Dawn (JD).

Their success makes them the latest in a long line of young hopefuls from the centre to flourish in the world of dance. The school has many ex-pupils working in theatres all over the world.

JD said: “All the teachers are very proud of them. These girls were the only three auditioned from Apple Dance and all were accepted by the Royal Ballet Associate.”

Nicole and Chloe will now train with the senior school each Saturday in Leeds , while Alice will join the junior section in Manchester every Saturday.
