CHILDREN from nine different primary schools descended on Bents Garden Centre in Glazebury to nervously await the results of a junior petunia-growing competition.
Bents had supplied the children with all the plants, pots and compost they needed to plant their own petunias and take care of their growth and development.
After careful consideration from the judges, Jake Hurst from Chowbent Primary School, Atherton, was named overall winner and received £100 of vouchers for his school and a Bents goodie bag.
Matthew Bent, managing director of Bents, said: “We think any initiative that gets children enthusiastic about plants and planting is a great idea.”
