A 38 years-old man needed hospital treatment after being attacked by a Boxer dog as he tried to protect his six months-old pup.
Now Andrew Robinson, of Manchester Road, Leigh is warning dog walkers to be on guard after he was injured on Sunday afternoon as he tried to protect Jess, his young Labrador-Poodle cross bitch, as he walked along a track beside Leigh Cemetery and opposite The Boundary pub.
“The Boxer just savaged Jess, I thought she was going to be killed. I tried to protect her but the Boxer bit me on my hand and elbow. Fortunately Jess is OK and I had treatment for bites at Leigh Infirmary,” said the electrician’s mate.
“But I dread to think what would have happened if my three young children had been with me. A woman in her late 30s was with the Boxer and I kept telling her to put it on a lead. Eventually she wrestled it away, but she didn’t even apologise.
“It was quite frightening and now my wife is scared of taking our dog for a walk.”
Police are investigating.
