IT’S an advantage to be named Steve when it comes to being appointed a Leigh town centre community bobby.

PC Steve Woolridge took over from Steve Gaskell, who followed on from Steve Marsden and Steve Hanley.

How do I know. Well it’s thanks to The Leyther, the Leigh Resident’s Forum’s informative newsletter, which flies the flag for Leigh and is edited by resident David Hull.

All communities could benefit from such a well produced vehicle which covers topical issues such as the town’s growing number of newcomers, the proposed new Leigh junior schools in Windermere Road, what’s happening on the Grasmere Street playing fields and concerns over alley gates among many other items of interest.
