WHEN his 94-years-old grandma died Matthew Bradshaw inherited her wedding band.
He had it customised by adding two bands of white gold and wore it after his own marriage in May.
The other week he was devastated when he lost it while walking his dog near the pumping station in Pennington.
He believes it slipped out of his pocket when he pulled out the dog’s lead and vanished.
Despite desperate searches for the sentimental 22 carat gold ring he failed to find it and advertised the loss in the Journal.
He was “gobsmacked” when he received a phone call to say the ring had been found a week later by two young lads, he only knows as Connor and Dale.
They found the ring on Friday, one of their dads was reading the Journal on Saturday, saw the lost ad, and to Matthew’s great relief he was reunited with the ring on Sunday Now he has nothing but praise for the actions of the lads, one from Grange Street, Leigh, who play cricket and RU at the two Leigh clubs, and who have spent their reward money on buying new cricket gear.
He said: “They are two stars. I was running out of hope of finding the 70 years old ring after a week. These days youngsters get a lot of grief and they deserve nothing put praise for their honesty.”
Well done to them both.
