FORMER Beat Boys’ leader Ronnie Carr has completed his mission to catalogue the great days of Leigh Casino.
The fifties’ rocker, whose group was the first to play Monday pop nights at the venue, was devastated when it was announced that the old theatre building, the mecca of 50s and 60s entertainment could not be saved.
He set about making a DVD documentary film “The Story of Leigh Casino”, an hour long black and white production featuring some of the main names at the time - himself, owner Winnie Brierley, band leader Johnny Prior and other special guests.
The premier of the professionally produced film will be screened at Leigh Miners’ Club on Thursday, September 18, from 6pm to 10pm and admission is free.
The film on DVD or CDR (mpeg video) will also be on sale and all proceeds will be donated to Wigan and Leigh Hospice.
A must for all Cas regulars - and a Christmas gift with a difference.
