THE dreaded horsefly season has started. Just hours after my oppo and I had been discussing the little blighters – and spreading sudocrem on his horses to stop them being bitten – I suffered my first two attacks when I was nipped on the wrist while picking strawberries.
The following day one got my elbow, wrist and top of my arm.
I never used to get bitten and I don’t know why I have suddenly become so attractive to flies. It must be because I have now reached the age where women become invisible to the opposite sex, and they have have taken the place of men. (Not that I’m complaining).
I wouldn’t mind but whatever they inject makes the skin come up like cartoon lumps.
I don’t want to wish life away but roll on autumn and the end of the pesky insect invasions.
