ONE of the oldest places of worship in Atherton will celebrate its birthday tomorrow, Sunday.
Chowbent Chapel, on Bolton Old Road, was built in 1721 and will welcome Mr David Heap of Dublin Unitarians as the guest preacher.
David has worked in the acting profession for many years, including a world tour with the English Shakespeare Company and starring for a few years as one of the main characters in He also starred in Fair City, Ireland's equivalent of Coronation Street and his family have long connections with Chowbent.
The service is at 10.45am and will feature music written by former Chowbent organist and choirmaster Richard Manley Peake (1844 - 1909), a relative of the Heap family.
