LEIGH Centurions kick-started 2013 with a 30-6 defeat of a young Wigan Warriors side in their first pre-season friendly at Leigh Sports Village on Sunday.

They scored six tries, including four in a shut-out first half when they established a 20-0 lead.

Mat Gardner, two, Sam Hopkins and Steve Maden scored tries, while Martyn Ridyard goaled twice and added a third in the second half following further tries from new signing Sean Penkywicz and Ryan Brierley.
