Cycle speedway training starts

ASTLEY and Tyldesley Cycle Speedway Club start their pre-season track training this Sunday.

Sessions will be held at Astley and Tyldesley Miners’' Welfare Club, Meanley Road, Gin Pit, Tyldesley, and are open to all club members and prospective new members.

First session at 2pm is for under 13s riders, followed by the session for 13s and over from 3pm.

There will also be floodlit sessions for the same groupings on Tuesday at 7pm and 8pm respectively, plus a further floodlit coaching session for the club's regular team riders on February 7 at 7pm.

These sessions will continue every Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday weather permitting until the first home league match on March 17 when Astley and Tyldesley take on Bury in Northern League fixtures at Gin Pit.

Newcomers of all ages, experience and ability will be most welcome to try out this exciting sport.

The club has bikes and helmets to loan out to riders for the on-track sessions.
