Road Runners land first prize in opening Grand Prix

ASTLEY and Tyldesley Road Runners men’s team landed first prize in the first Central Lancashire Grand Prix of the season.

Lewis Eccleston started this season where he finished off last season at the front of the pack and run in a close second in 16mins 27secs.

Alex Foster was not far behind, finishing 10th in 16mins 59secs, while Simon Ford was hot on his heels in 14th with 17mins 13secs.

The 5k race started and finished on the running track at Leverhulme Park, Bolton, with one particularly nasty hill to negotiate in the second kilometre. Josie Maley was A&T’s first woman home in 20mins 17secs.

Paul Beardsworth produced a personal best with 20mins 44secs.

Cath Hodgetts also had a great race to claim her personal best with 26mins 19secs.

And Clare Unsworth managed to dip under 30 minutes for the first time with 29mins 34secs.
