MINERS deservedly edged a hard-fought first game of the new rugby league season.
East were 10-0 down after the opening two sets of tackles.
Further tries from Miners handed East now an uphill struggle.
They fought back and got within touching distance but could not overtake Miners East’s tries were scored by Danny Bassett, three, Adam Jones, two, and Taylor Pemberton.
