Horden u17 5 Leigh u17 8

LEIGH’S junior colts faced three major hurdles in the weekend’s Divisional Bowl quarter final.

The journey to Horden (very long), the pitch (very short) the Horden team (very tall and big), but the Leigh lads were not fazed and managed to eke out a hard-fought victory.

Leigh struck first after some slick handling saw the ball end up in Zak Uzokwe's grip and he flew past the Horden defence to touch down in the corner after five minutes.

Horden bounced back aand rumbled their way over the Leigh line after 11 minutes.

The rest of the game was spent with the Horden pack trying to batter down the Leigh defence, which held strong.

Rob Drake stroked home a penalty from the halfway line in a dramatic finale.

It sets Leigh up nicely for another hard away game in the semi finals against Hull Ionians this Sunday.
