Rowley not reading much into Rams defeat

CENTURIONS boss Paul Rowley is not reading too much into Sunday’s opponents Dewsbury Rams’ defeat to Barrow.

Rams lost at Barrow last week after shipping in 30 unanswered second-half points, but Rowley is wary of assuming their form is not up to scratch because of that result.

“They’ve started well, they are above us in the league and had a very narrow last-minute defeat to Featherstone (recently) which perhaps shows how they are going this year,” he said.

“Dewsbury have a new coach who has breathed a lot of enthusiasm into the club and he’s brought with him some young hungry players.”

Craig Briscoe suffered a broken hand against Sheffield and could be missing for a few weeks. 

However, Adam Higson is making good progress and is expected to be available for selection for the first team since rejoining the club, while Thomas Coyle is only a couple of weeks away from fitness.

Briscoe’s absence could open an opportunity for the likes of Andy Thornley or one of the club's talented young players who enjoyed an 11-try success at Tredegar Rugby Union Club in South Wales at the weekend.

Hooker Aaron Lloyd claimed a hat-trick in the 64-4 victory.
