ASTLEY and Tyldesley Cycle Speedway Club scooped second place in round four of the Northern Fours League at Stockport on Sunday.
Danny Hughes and Reece Pollitt continued their impressive form to jointly top score with 16 points for A&T.
Paul Graham bagged 14 points from four rides, before giving the reserve his last race, while Mark Graham scored four valuable third places for A&T.
Despite league-leaders Stockport running out convincing winners at home, and maintaining their 100 percent league winning record, A&T moved up to third spot in the table.
Northern Fours League Round Four result: Stockport 75, Astley & Tyldesley 55, Goshen 51, Bury 47, Heckmondwike 45, Hull 14. A&T scorers: Danny Hughes 16, Reece Pollitt 16, Paul Graham 14, Mark Graham 8, Roy Heslop 1.
A&T suffered their first defeat of the campaign in the Northern Junior League Round Four after low turnouts across all categories.
Pollitt lost only once to score 15 points in the under 16s event and A&T's four veterans piled up the points in the Combination category.
A&T’s second place finish means they maintain a realistic chance of winning the Northern Junior League, with the club sitting top ahead of the two remaining rounds.
Northern Junior League Round Four result: Bury 83, Astley & Tyldesley 63, Stockport 40, Heckmondwike 34, Hull 15. A&T scorers: Reece Pollitt 15, George Hughes 13, Mark Graham 13, Roy Heslop 12, Mike Hack 10.
John White, under 8s, Matt Snell, under 10s, and Max Evans, under 12s, turned out for A&T in the second national round of the British Youth and Junior League series at Leicester on Saturday.
The three riders took third place in their respective Grand Prix B finals.
A&T congratulated rider Marc Osmand on completing the UK Ironman course last week.
