PREPARATIONS for Tyldesley RUFC’s new season are well underway with new head coach Phil Johnson, ex-Leigh RLFC, putting the players through their paces.
More than 40 players have been down to pre-season training at St George’s Park on Tuesday and Thursday nights.
In addition to ex-RL professional Johnson, Tyldesley will also benefit from some coaching from Richard Senior who was formerly coach at National League One club Sedgley Park last season.
Director of rugby Brent Broadhurst is delighted with the turnout for pre-season training.
“It’s great to see the lads putting the effort in now and I’m sure we’ll be ready for the start of the season,” he said.
“Anyone interested in joining in a playing capacity can come down for 7pm on training nights or call club secretary Peter Mannion on 07974 709046 regardless of experience or if you just want to give it a try.”
Tyldesley will be running three senior sides this year with both the second and third XVs involved in a full league and cup programme.
