PROP forward Tom Spencer has signed a contract to make him a fully fledged Leigh Centurions player.
The 22 year old has proven an immensely popular figure on the terraces and in the dressing room and the club are delighted to finally land their man ahead of other Super League interest.
Spencer originally came to prominence in 2010 when Rugby League legend Garry Schofield selected him for the BARLA Under-19 side from Wigan St Patricks. Upon his return from a successful tour of South Africa, Wigan snapped up his signature.
Spencer, who debuted with the Warriors in 2012, made 7 appearances in total for the men from the DW Stadium, including three this term and originally linked with the Centurions on dual-contract last year.
After impressing in 18 Centurion appearances (and a couple for South Wales Scorpions), Leigh moved to bring Spencer back in 2013 when arguably he has been in even better form, scoring four tries in 26 appearances including an all important try in the club’s Northern Rail Cup Final success over Sheffield.
Centurions Head Coach Paul Rowley said: “I am delighted that I get the pleasure of working with Tom on a permanent basis in 2014.
"He is a hugely popular figure and it is exciting to witness such a fearless player like Tom represent this club with pride and passion.
"Tom is a well grounded young man with strong family values who will be yet another fantastic role model for our towns youngsters.
"He has turned down several Super League opportunities to commit his future to the Centurions and I am immensely proud to have him as part of my team.”
