Astley riders seal title triumph with clean sweep

ASTLEY and Tyldesley’s young riders clinched the Northern League Division Three title at Stockport on Sunday.
Needing a victory in their final match, the under 12s won 91-15 to seal the title and complete a clean sweep of winning every match this season.
Max Evans raced to a 16 points maximum score.
A&T scorers: Max Evans 16, Matthew Snell 14, Alex Semtyshin 13, Ben Dickinson 12, Jessica Burgess 11, Emily Burgess 9, Joe Quarmby 8, Charlie Burgess 8.
In Division One, A&T could not stop Stockport clinching the title in emphatic fashion as the hosts won 101-48.
Danny Hughes was in the thick of things for A&T and deserved more than his 11-points return.
A&T scorers: Danny Hughes 11, Reece Pollitt 11, Roy Heslop 8, George Hughes 7 (plus 1 bonus), Mark Graham 6, Ron Makin 5, Ciaran Collins 0.
Stockport fielded two ineligible riders for the Division Two match, conceding 39 penalty points.
A&T had enough strength to take the win on the track 74-65, increased to 113-65 after the inclusion of the penalty points. A solid team performance by A&T saw all the riders in the points.
