Sarsfield signs for Leigh Centurions

LEIGH Centurions continue to bolster their ranks with the signing of 22-year-old forward Matthew Sarsfield.
The former Leigh Miners second row took the professional ticket with Wigan, originally linking up with the Warriors at scholarship level before progressing through the under-18s and under-20s teams.
Following a good 2010 campaign split between both grades, Sarsfield was named in the England Academy squad that defeated the Australian Schoolboys in two tests played at Leigh Sports Village.
He joined Huddersfield Giants ahead of the 2011 season and then spent time during that year with Dewsbury on dual contract where he played four games.
After being released by Huddersfield at the end of the 2012 season, Sarsfield trialled with Widnes and signed with Swinton for the rest of the Kingstone Press Championship season in April.
In total, Sarsfield made 16 appearances for the Lions, scoring eight tries to help them climb out of a relegation scrap.
Leigh Centurions Head Coach Paul Rowley commented; "In Matt we have recruited a highly motivated and driven player. He is a natural second rower with good skills and leg speed and I am pleased such a talented young player has decided his most positive career move was with the Centurions."
