A JUNIOR triathlon has made a triumphant return to the borough.
Thirty young people got to grips with the great outdoors by cycling, navigating and canoeing their way around Haigh Hall Country Park.
Teams of three battled to find the most markers in the woodlands with just a basic map, cycled a mile-long bike circuit through dense forest and paddled their way along the Leeds-Liverpool canal.
Connor Richards, aged 11 from Atherton, said: “It's great; I've never done anything like this before and I really like it. Everyone is trying really hard and I hope our team is going to win.”
The triathlon has returned after a break of several years and was organised by Wigan Council’s outdoor education team.
