3:30pm Tuesday 22nd October 2013 in Sport
PRIMARY children from Atherton and Tyldesley attended St Michael’s School to compete in the ATSA Key Stage Two Kurling Festival.
St George's Central, Sacred Heart, St Philip's, St Michael's, Garrett Hall, Tyldesley Primary, Chowbent, Parklee, Atherton St George's and St Richard's took part in the version of curling played on smooth flooring.
The schools were divided into two groups of five with the winning school from each meeting in the final.
With competition close in both groups, as the final scores were added up Sacred Heart looked in a good position to retain the trophy they won last year after topping group one.
Tyldesley Primary finished the winners in group two to set up a final with their Sacred Heart counterparts.
Both schools played their part in a tense final match, however congratulations went to the children from Tyldesley Primary, who edged the final and went home as winners.
