Ashton Athletic ... 1 Atherton Colls...3
COLLS secured a trip to Chorley in the next round of the Lancashire FA Challenge Trophy after victory at Ashton Athletic.
Substitutes Brad Cooke and Mark Truffas gave the visitors the lead after Ryan Small’s opener for Ashton, before Paul Atherton guaranteed Colls’ progress late on.
Jay Foulds stopped Gareth Peet’s first minute free kick at Brocstedes Park and the North West Counties League Premier Division side took the lead through Small on 33 minutes.
Peet was replaced by Truffas at the interval and shortly after Charlie Stoker made way for Cooke, who levelled the score 10 minutes later from his fellow replacement’s delivery.
Cooke turned provider on 77 minutes, flicking on for Truffas to score, before Atherton increased the lead after good work from Jonah O’Reilly.
Atherton Colls...3 Northwich Flixton Villa...3
Colls returned to league action where they were held to a draw in a six-goal thriller with Northwich Flixton Villa.
Kieran Williams and Ahmed Ali gave Villa a two-goal lead, but Colls levelled through Peet and Stoker.
Martin Gordon’s deflected effort wrong-footed keeper Matthew Ince, but Atherton headed home to bring Colls level and Ince pulled off a superb save at the death.
