LEIGH Centurions have signed former Salford Red Devils forward Jake Emmitt ahead of the 2014 Kingstone Press Championship season.

It is the second time the 25-year-old front rower has joined Centurions, having represented Leigh as a dual registered player four years ago.

Boasting Super League experience with Bradford, Castleford and Salford, Centurions believe the Welsh international has the right credentials to help boost their title aspirations in the coming year and beyond.

Leigh’s director, Derek Beaumont said:”Jake is a good young prop with bags of Super League experience.

“I spoke with Paul (Rowley) and although this perhaps not a position in which we may feel we are struggling, we are of the opinion that we must sign quality when it is available and if we do that everything else will look after itself."

“Jake is a quality player and with the whole issue of what happens in Super League in 2015, and how clubs may or may not qualify, up in the air, we are determined to have the squad that will get us through."

“He’s a great signing for us and one that the fans will appreciate.”
