PENNINGTON Football Club’s under 16s started 2014 in fine fashion with a 5-1 home victory against Manchester's Hough End.
Goals from Brad Aspinall and player-of-the-match Ryan Galvin gave Penny a 2-0 half-time lead.
Three headed second-half goals, two from corners for Ross Farrington and a looping finish from Sam Kedward completed the scoring.
The result firmly cements Pennington’s place at the top of the Tameside Premier Division with a perfect eight out of eight wins.
Pennington Flyers under 11s drew 1-1 with Bolton Lads and Girls, Jaxon Doyley opening the scoring with a thundering free kick. Danny Ransom was player of the match.
Pennington Predators under 11s came back from 2-0 down to beat Springview 3-2.
Two well-taken goals by Jaxon Doyley and a free kick from Sam Ford sealed the win, while Declan Costello was player of the match.
