Hindsford 1 Rochdale Sacred Heart 1

A LATE goal salvaged a point for the Tonics in the Manchester Football League Premier Division.

As table toppers Hindsford were the favourites but second-from-bottom Sacred Heart's county cup journey - awaiting a semi final showdown - indicated they would be capable of producing anything on the day.

Rochdale broke the deadlock in the second half after Chilton had been sent off.

Skipper Chilton, who was already the recipient of a yellow card, was the Tonics covering defender when Rochdale played a decent ball in behind Hindsford.

The last ditch clearance was deemed by the officials to be the product of foul play.

Things soon went from bad to worse as the visitors struck gold but substitute Jack Valentine scored a great late equaliser.

From one of Meredith’s nicely clipped passes down the line, Valentine’s pace and power did the rest as he stormed into the penalty area and from an acute angle he lashed the ball high into the net at the near post.
