ASKAM came out on top but it was not due to lack of effort from East.

The hosts closed the game out running in two late tries. Ryan O'Toole picked up the man-of-the-match award.

Debutant Ricky Holt had a great game and scored East’s try.

Leigh East 2nd team 8 Irlam Hornets 20 EAST’S second team were again pipped at the post for the second week running after a very good performance that only game the visitors a 0-2 lead at the break.

Either side could have won the game but Irlam grabbed two late tries to seal the game, East’s tries coming from Marcus Mercer and Jacob Kinney.

Leigh East u18 30 Wigan St Judes 24 IN a game in which the lead changed hands several times the Leigh East under 18s ran out 30-24 winners against Wigan St Judes.

East’s stand-out performers were Pat Rainford, Jordan Hill, Jordan Haggerty and Jack Hansen who bossed the team round the park.

This game sets both teams up for an interesting game in the National Cup semi final in a few weeks time.

Scorers for East were Jack Hansen, two, Ben Parry, Sam Arrowsmith, Jack Lavery and Pat Rainford with Jack Hansen kicking three goals.

Leyland Warriors 6 Leigh East u15 28 LEIGH East under 15s completed the NWC Development Cup with a convincing win over Leyland.

The hosts were the first on the scoresheet, but they were only points in the game after East dug deep and ground out the victory to put them in the semi final.

Try scorers for East were Brandon Greenwood, two, Corey Hamer, Connor Wilcock, Brad Whelan and Dale Whitworth with Sean Wadsworth and James Hall kicking a goal each.
