LEIGH Centurions are delighted to announce details of the first of their community event fixtures to be held at Golborne Parkside on Saturday, April 12.

As part of the ‘Leigh Centurions Community Partner Club Scheme’ launched in November 2013, event planning has been taking shape behind the scenes with the aim to take a series of reserve team fixtures out on the road and to create a host of all-day family fun events.

The action will begin at 12 noon with the game due kick off at 2.30pm and Leigh Centurions will descend on our community partners for a fantastic day of fun as we take on the North East Academy who will be brought to town by Great Britain legend Lee Crooks.

As part of the day’s events there will be coaching sessions and tag rugby taking place, with first team players in attendance along with club directors and officials and our very own Parky Pig and the Junior Centurions will also be on hand with free season tickets being made available and much more.

Centurions Director Andy Mazey said: "The Board of Management are delighted to announce the first of our planned community event fixtures for the 2014 season.

“Not only does this initiative further strengthen our relationships with our community partner clubs but it also enables them to generate much needed revenue for the amateur game.

“It’s a real win/win situation for all concerned and for the game of rugby league generally and all the profits on the day will be retained by Golborne Parkside Pirates."

"As an added benefit it also gives us an opportunity to spread the word about our great club and to showcase our fantastic reserve team players to a wider audience.

“Our reserve team manager Don Boyle and coach Paul Anderson have fully embraced this initiative and our stars of the future will be on show as part of what will be a great day of fun.

“On behalf of the board I would like to thank Golborne Parkside for making this possible and would urge as many of our loyal supporters to get down to what is a fantastic venue and enjoy the day.”

Details of further community event games will be released in due course.
