Leigh East ARLFC had their first Development and Fun Day at Leigh Sports Village on Sunday.

Leigh thanked everyone involved from coaches, team secretaries, parents, committee and children.

They also thanked the staff from LSV for all their help and support tin making the day a huge success. As well as the hotographers and cheerleaders for their involvement.

Andy Burnham opened the day, which also included the launch of Leigh's new outdoor exercise equipment obtained with the help of funding from Wigan Council and The Big Lottery Fund.

Leigh East U7s welcomed Ashton Bears, Woolston and Leigh Miners to the bank holiday fun day. Giving the youngsters a great opportunity to show off their skills.

Leigh East U8s had a great day playing Hindley and West Bank at the development which saw Jacob Hardy score his first try and Callum, Darcy and William, who scored a hat-trick, all play their first games.

Leigh East U9s 1-4 Halton Farnworth Hornets

The under 9 s hosted Halton Hornets, both teams played good flowing rugby which in turn provided an entertaining game for everyone to watch.

Halton proved to be a touch more decisive near the East line and finally ran out victors, but a gallant effort from the East lads.

Leigh East U10s 2-6 Golborne Parkside

The hosts started off slowly by conceding four tries in the first half. The second half was a big improvement with Ben Penkywicz and Tyler Caldwell leading the team around well which lsaw two well taken tries from Sean Green.

Leigh East U12s 4-24 Hindley

Two early tries killed East off and they struggled to find any good form, the hosts learned a lot from the game with Hindley bein a group above.

East's try coming from Harry Stevenson.

Leigh East U13s 62-0 South Trafford

The under 13s played South Trafford and put in a superb display of rugby. Try scorers Lewis O'Neil, two, Niall Seddon, two, Jordan McKay, Callum Hargreaves, Josh Southern, Archie Fleming, Jack Broxton, Elliott Dean and Jack Wild. Goals added by Matty Rudd, Elliott Dean and Jordan Mckay.

Leigh East U15s 26-8 Latchford Albion

East were hosts in a friendly before next week's semi final but still remain unbeaten in 2014.

It was East who were quickest out of the blocks scoring two tries but sloppy defending let Latchford back into the game.

The second half was pretty much the same but East always looked in control and didn't need to get out of first gear. This week's semi final is against Shevington Sharks at home, kicking off at 12:15pm.

Rylands Sharks 30-54 Leigh East U18s

Leigh East got back to winning ways with a comfortable win over Rylands with stand out performers Tom Worthington, Jack Hansen, Nathan Gaskell and Morgan Fearnley.

Tries coming from Jack Hansen, three, Nathan Gaskell, two, Adam Whiteside, Jack Lavery, Morgan Fearnley and Ellis Noon. Goals from Tom Worthington, nine.
