LEIGH Genesis under 15s girls’ team clinched the NV&BY League Cup in dramatic style.
They met Walshaw Sports Club in the final and found themselves three goals down at half time.
But manager Paul Ashurst inspired the girls to a terrific fight back. Annie Ashusrt gave them hope with a scorcher from 20 yards and when Emily Wallbank added to it midway into the second half Walshaw were visibly rocking.
Antonia Carta grabbed the all important equaliser with 10 minutes to go to force the game into extra time.
With Genesis dominating the game, Alice Axon gave them the lead for the first time and then Ashurst sealed the win with a wonder goal from the half way line.
Leigh Genesis currently have two girls’ teams and a separate group that are training at Lowton High School.
