Colts complete double in thrilling finale
LEIGH Senior Colts scooped the Cock of the North trophy by beating Burton 10-8 at Sandbach RUFC.
Penned in their own half for the first 35 minutes, Rob Drake’s penalty sent the sides in all square before full back Ollie Shepherd sprinted home and Drake converted.
Burton hit back with an unconverted try and Leigh’s luck shone through at the end when a penalty against them bounced off the upright.
The victory sees Leigh retire to open age rugby on the back of a double-winning season, having also clinched the Raging Bull B League title this season.
