MORE than 40 children from local primary schools came together to prepare for the first ATSA/Safe-Elec-UK Residential Sports Weekend.

The event, organised by Atherton and Tyldesley Sports Association, takes place in July at Low Bank Ground Outdoor Education Centre in the Lake District.

It will involve two boys’ and two girls’ year five and six teams from each of the 10 schools taking part in a variety of sporting competitions both individually and as school teams.

The preparation session, at St George's Central School, provided an insight into kayaking, orienteering and running they will be undertaking on the weekend as well as meeting fellow competitors.
