Leigh East u18 40 Blackbrook 10

EAST started slowly and conceded early on but the introduction of Adam Wilkes, Pat Rainford and Mike Derbyshire sparked East into life with Mike Derbyshire and Jay Yarwood went over for two tries all converted by Tom Worthington put East 18-6 up at half time.

East started where they left off before the break with good ball movement sent Billy Allred over in the corner.

Brook pulled a try back before Billy Allred’s second try and two long-range efforts by Sam Arrowsmith and Shane Williams finished the scoring to end the game 40-10 to the home side. Strong performances once again by Jay Yarwood, Pat Rainford and Billy Allred.

Leigh East u16 18 Wigan St Judes 44

EAST came up against an in-form St Judes’ side that in periods physically dominated the game.

The effort was there from the East lads but due to the unavailability of certain players the overall fitness and squad size of the Wigan side took the game.

Try scores from Jack Reynolds Ross Webster and Josh Woods with Woods adding the extras.

Leigh East u15 34 West Bank 26

EAST under 15s once again remain unbeaten in what was the toughest game of the season coming back from a half time score of 12-20.

Danny Surridge scoring five tries in a game was quite an achievement coming off the bench, with Mervin Smith getting the only other try as with Brad Whelan kicking five goals to remain three points clear at the top of the table.

Leigh East u14 24 Waterhead 22

EAST were back at home this weekend playing against a strong Waterhead side.

Waterhead took the lead with an unconverted try before Oscar Hansen levelled the scores.

Just before the break Waterhead took the lead with two more tries but East hit back with a Lewis Clarke score to make the half time score 10-12.

The second half was an end-to-end game.

Both teams played some strong exciting rugby, before Ryan Horne marked the game with one of his special runs.

East took the lead for the first time but Waterhead levelled and then regained the lead.

Both teams wanted the win and it showed on the pitch before another Waterhead try.

This was cancelled out by another try by Ryan Horne with the conversion to level the scores.

Both teams scored again for a tight finish before Ryan Horne forced his way over to level the scores.

Conversion was successful for East to take the game 24-22.

Credit must be given to the forwards, Oscar Hansen, Louis Brogan, Cole Bretherton and Aaron Smith for the strong running and determination to allow the backs to set up the tries.

The lads set the benchmark for the rest of the season it must now be kept at this level.

Leigh East u13 10 Burtonwood 32

THE under 13s went down 32-10 to a strong Burtonwood side.

East showed good rugby in spells but errors were their downfall.

Tries from Niall Seddon, Matty Rudd who also added a goal.

Shevington 30 Leigh East u12 10

AGAIN spilling the ball in their own quarter cost East and not defending the ball from kick off gave the opposition too much easy field position.

East try scorers were Harry Stevenson and Kieron Prescott with a conversion from Jack Holland.

Leigh Miners 18 Leigh East u11 16

DESPITE a spirited performance East came up short.

The first half started quickly with Miners opening the scoring.

East pushed back with Jordan Fishwick going over to level the scores.

With both teams matching each other in the middle of the park Miners broke the defensive line to see the score 12-6 at the half.

The second half saw a determined East get a foothold with Ryan Barnes scoring the first of his two tries.

A good overall performance with only a kick separating the teams.

Leyland 34 Leigh East u10 34

THE under 10s went to Leyland and came away earning themselves a excellent draw.

A massive improvement on past performances which all the lads, lasses and parents enjoyed.

Clock Face 5 Leigh East u9 3

THE under nines travelled to Clockface and went down five tries to three.

Some excellent work from Jack Edge kept East in the game up to the end.

Eventually poor tackling took its toll.

Halton 7 Leigh East u8 2

A GOOD try from Dylan Gregson who always runs the ball hard and one from Chayse Quigley who impressed on his debut.

Best run to Cai O'Brian who led the forwards through the game.

Best tackle to Will Nguimbi for his crunching defence.

Most improved to Callum Dean who has fitted into the team great and parents player of the match went to Josh Hopkins for the fifth week running for his tireless play again.

Rylands u7 8 Leigh East u7 7

THE game got off to a flying start with East going in front off the first set.

This was short-lived as Rylands' attack was fast and strong and they came back to go three in front.

Undeterred East had to dig in deep and work hard to the final whistle.

They eventually closed the gap but got pipped at the post by the final try of the game.

Tries from Brody Allred, three, Jude Wright, two, Bobbi Allred and Luke Thorpe who also took the parents’ of the match award.
