A DEPLETED Astley and Tyldesley were unable to stop Northumbria Vikings taking the Northern League Division One match at Gin Pit on Sunday.

With six riders missing and following two start exclusions Vikings came away with a 96-82 victory, although Adam Phillips was in great form for A&T, losing only once, with Reece Pollitt dropping two points.

Team manager Paul Graham, riding at reserve, put in a solid showing.

Gareth Paine made his debut, while under 13s riders Max Evans and Matt Snell filled in for the missing riders.

Vikings took the points in the Division Two, despite Pollitt riding to a maximum and Phillips going unbeaten until a last heat gate exclusion.

A&T took the Division Three match as Vikings failed to field any riders.

Max Evans raced unbeaten, with strong scores from Matt Snell and Ben Dickinson.
