TYLDESLEY saw off competition from 10 teams to bag the Liverpool and District Mini Water Polo Festival crown at the weekend.

Drawn in Group A against Liverpool. Warrington, Stretford and St Edwards College, Tyldesley won all four games to book a semi-final spot against Chester.

Kelsy Evans scored six times in a 10-1 win that set up a final with Stretford, where a Lucy Mills double and Kate Flaherty goal sealed a 3-2 victory.

Evans top-scored in the competition with 15 goals, with Mills adding nine, Flaherty five, Jessica Robb three, Adam Little two and a goal for Daisy Lear.

Elsewhere, 14 swimmers swam across 51 events at the City of Manchester Summer Swim Meet.

A range of abilities made the trip, wih some having only moved into competitive swimming with the club from lessons at the Pelican Centre 12 months ago.

Imogen Bailey took gold in the 100m butterfly, 50m butterfly and 200m individual medley. Jodie Gittens won gold in the 100m butterfly and100m freestyle, silver in the 100m backstroke and bronze in the 200m individual medley and 50m backstroke.

Rachel Hornby won gold in the 200m individual medley and bronze in the 50m butterfly. All swimmers achieved personal bests .
