LEIGH Miners Rangers were pegged back as the top six race in the NCL Premier Division took further twists and turns, losing 20-4 at second placed Siddal.

The Halifax club had been in a dire run of form but they were too strong on the day for Miners, who would have leapfrogged their opponents in the table had they picked up the win.

Gareth Pain’s first half try had them well in contention at 4-10 at the interval but Siddal were comfortable in the second half to secure the win.

Meanwhile, the Alliance side saw their game against Accrington awarded as a walkover victory when their opponents were unable to raise a team.

With this weekend being Challenge Cup final there are no fixtures for any of Miners’ open-age teams.
