THE Astley and Tyldesley club's run of success at junior level continued on Sunday, with two more riders crowned champions.

Ben Dickinson raced unbeaten in the final round of the Northern Fours and Junior League series at Bury to seal overall victory in the Northern under 10s Grand Prix series.

Later in the afternoon, Reece Pollitt was confirmed as the Northern under 16s Grand Prix series winner, after scoring 13 points in the under 16s event.

In the Northern Junior League match, A&T were narrowly pipped by Bury, who clinched the league title with A&T runners-up.

There were plenty of excellent performances by A&T riders on the day, with Joe Quarmby and Ben Dickinson both racing unbeaten in the under 10s match, John White dropping just one point and Charlie Burgess winning two races.

Max Evans raced unbeaten in the under 13s match, followed by Reece Pollitt top scoring with 13 in the under 16s category.

Finally Gareth Paine scored a hard-earned 13 points in the Division Two riders’ event.

Heckmondwike were one point ahead of A&T after heat 12, but A&T fought back to move into a two-point’s lead after heat 18 and this lead was maintained at heat 24, before entering the final round of races.

The match went to the last race and Mick Knowles took Heckmondwike's only race win of the match in heat 30, to ensure that Heckmondwike pipped A&T by one point, to take third place on the day and in the overall series, with A&T 4th on both counts.

Reece Pollitt won three races for A&T, with Gareth Paine scoring a well-earned 10 points.

Bury Comets won the match, to draw level on match points with Stockport, but Stockport held on to take the title, beating Bury by 16 race points.
